SCOPE OF JOB

The ideal candidate for this position will be a natural leader who always has a finger on the pulse of current culinary trends. Supervises the complete food preparation in the assigned area and responsible for the proper efficiency and profitable functioning of the kitchens which have been assigned to him. The Head Chef will be responsible for assigning work in the kitchen, preparing meals for our diners, interviewing and training staff, kitchen inventory management and partnering with the Sous Chef to come up with delectable new dishes to add to our growing menu. Also, supervises the work of the Cooks and kitchen personnel, remaining fair and impartial at all times. Maintains high standards of quality and develops a gastronomic team evolving with trends and fashion.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the budget established by the restaurant manager
  • Ensure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen
  • Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal preparation, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion
  • Prepare and maintain the schedule for kitchen staff
  • Monitor food and labour costs
  • Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes in collaboration with the Sous Chef
  • Implement company policy and procedures and health and safety codes
  • Implement HACCP policies, procedures and standards of practice, as per the HACCP manual

REQUIREMENTS:

Level of Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Chef in a full-service restaurant
  • 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role

 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts required
